UKCGG Essay Prize 2020

The topic for the 2020 Essay Prize is:

Horizon scanning in cancer genomics: 
Imagine two patients - one being diagnosed with cancer now and one being diagnosed with the same cancer in 10 years time. How and why do you think advances in genomic medicine will change the care we offer now and then for cancer patients and their families?

Deadline for entries by midnight Sunday 11th October 2020

Essays no more than 2500 words

Winners will be announced in four categories:

  • Medical students 
  • Junior doctors (any training grade from FY1 to ST8)
  • Genetic counsellor trainees
  • Clinical scientist trainees 

First prize in each category will be £75 Amazon Vouchers - with an additional £25 bonus vouchers awarded to the overall winner chosen across categories.

The winner will be invited to present their winning essay virtually at the UKCGG Winter Meeting on 10th December 2020. 

Runner up in each category will receive a large pat on the back and some CV brownie points

All winning and runner up essays will be published in full on the UKCGG website
