UK Cancer Genetics Group Travel Awards
The UK Cancer Genetics Group (UKCGG) would like to remind its members about the offer of various Awards.
These are to encourage wider participation at UKCGG meetings and to support presentation of original cancer genetics research and clinical work nationally and internationally.
UKCGG can make funding available on a discretionary basis as follows:
1) Up to three Travel Awards will be available annually for medical trainees in Clinical Genetics and Genetic Counsellors to cover the registration, reasonable travel and accommodation costs for members to attend UKCGG organised meetings.
2) All UKCGG Members may apply for consideration of part-funding for relevant non-CGG meetings up to a maximum of £500 for European meetings and £1000 for destinations outside Europe. Consideration of funding for other courses or activities that will be of benefit to the cancer genetics community, not covered by other sources of funding will also be considered.
All awards are at the discretion of the CGG Council. Priority will be given to UKCGG members who are presenting original cancer genetics research or clinical data (oral presentation or poster) at a relevant conference.
The application should include a brief CV, meeting/course details and value of attendance, a copy of any abstract and evidence of acceptance, total funding requested, other sources of funding sought, and a letter of support from your head of department. Successful applicants should acknowledge the UKCGG in their presentation and will be asked to write an article for the UKCGG website as a condition of acceptance.
For all awards you must be a UKCGG member of at least a year and should apply via e-mail to the Treasurer, Bev Speight at beverley.speight@nhs.net.
